Mbappe contributed one goal in this match for France, but Spain capitalized on their opportunities to win and secure a place in the 2025 Nations League final.
After the match, the Real Madrid striker expressed his dissatisfaction with the referee's decision. He said: "I disagree with the referee about the added time, but if I say it out loud, people will think I'm angry. When it was announced that there were only 5 minutes of added time, theoretically we should have been allowed to play for at least 5 minutes."
Mbappe also pointed out France's weaknesses in the recent defeat: “In a tense match like this, I think we played well. The team had some very good chances that we hadn't created in a long time. However, in the first 10 minutes of the first half, we conceded two goals, and the same thing happened in the second half. France couldn't maintain consistency throughout the 90 minutes, but it's clear that we have improved.”
France used to be one of the strongest teams in the world , but in this match, they failed to show the class of their best players. Mbappe doesn't believe that injuries affected the poor performance of the defense.
The "Les Bleus" star said: "That's no excuse, we are capable players. We are naturally angry and disappointed."
The 5-4 victory propelled Spain into their third consecutive Nations League final, setting up an Iberian Peninsula derby against Portugal on the morning of June 9th.
