TPO - At the end of August, the vast summer-autumn rice fields in Ha Tinh are covered in a golden color, beautiful as a painting. With high prices, it promises a bumper crop for farmers.

These days, all over the fields in Ha Tinh, the sound of combine harvesters is bustling with the summer-autumn rice harvest.

This crop, Ha Tinh people mainly grow rice varieties such as Bac Thinh, Huong Binh, Thai Xuyen 111, Nhi Uu 838, Lai Thom 6, Nep 98... with a short growing period of 100 - 110 days.

According to many farmers, this year's crop has favorable weather, without any early rains or floods, so the rice yield is high. Along with that, the price of rice is quite high, making farmers very excited.

After 3 months, large areas of rice ripen. This crop is estimated to yield 53-54 quintals/ha.

The golden ripe rice fields are as beautiful as a painting in the districts of Cam Xuyen, Can Loc, Thach Ha, Ky Anh... The harvesters work at full capacity day and night to harvest the rice.

Farmers are rushing to bring rice home or sell it right in the field to traders and cooperatives. “This summer-autumn crop, I mainly produce Khang Dan 18 variety. The rice yield is nearly 3.5 quintals/sao. With the price of rice at approximately 6,500 VND/kg, people are excited because of the good harvest and good price,” said Mr. Nguyen Van An (54 years old, resident of Cam Xuyen district).

The leader of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection of Ha Tinh province said that in the summer-autumn crop of 2024, the whole province will produce nearly 45,000 hectares of rice, mainly in the group of varieties with a short growing period of 100 - 110 days, ensuring avoidance of natural disasters at the end of the crop. Up to this point, localities have harvested more than 27,000 hectares, more than 60% of the area, with an average yield estimated at over 51.58 quintals/ha.
