This is the largest regional sporting event commissioned by the Asian Rowing Federation (ARF), in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism , Hai Phong City People's Committee and the Vietnam Rowing Federation.
At the opening ceremony, Ms. Tran Thi Hoang Mai - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hai Phong, Head of the Organizing Committee of the tournament affirmed that the tournament is an opportunity for Hai Phong sports in particular, and Vietnamese sports in general, to affirm their capacity to organize international events, promoting the image of the country and people of Vietnam - friendly, dynamic, modern.
Through the tournament, athletes have the opportunity to compete and prepare the best force for the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand, the 20th ASIAD in 2026 in Japan and the 2028 Olympic qualifiers in the United States.

Hai Phong City has carefully prepared facilities, techniques and logistics, ensuring the best conditions for athletes and international guests. Hai Phong Sailing Training Center has been comprehensively upgraded, the racing track system, award podium, LED screen, and functional areas have been installed synchronously, meeting international standards.
Mr. Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet - Director of the Department of Sports and Physical Training (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) shared that organizing the tournament is an important step in the journey of international integration of Vietnamese sports.
The tournament is an opportunity to improve professional achievements, while demonstrating the image of a dynamic, integrated and responsible Vietnam to the continental sports community.
Mr. Chen Chunxin - President of the Asian Sailing Federation expressed his impression of the strong development of Vietnamese sports, especially in sailing.
Mr. Chen Chunxin highly appreciated the modern facilities, water surface and ideal conditions for international competitions at the Hai Phong Sailing Training Center and thanked the dedication and thoughtfulness of the Organizing Committee and Hai Phong people for creating the best conditions for international delegations.


Mr. Chen Chuxin affirmed that the Asian Rowing Federation's choice of Vietnam to host this tournament is a testament to its trust and appreciation for the host country's organizational capacity.
The 2025 Asian Rowing Championship is not only a continental sporting event but also an opportunity for Hai Phong to promote the image of an international, modern and civilized city; at the same time, promote exchange, cooperation, develop sports tourism and strengthen friendship between countries in the region.
After the opening ceremony, 678 athletes and coaches from 18 Asian Rowing delegations competed in the group stage at the Hai Phong Rowing Training Center. Delegates, locals and tourists cheered on the teams competing on the river.



The 2025 Asian Rowing Championship, taking place from October 16-19, brings together 678 athletes and coaches from 18 countries and territories including: India, Japan, South Korea, North Korea, Iran, Iraq, Uzbekistan, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Hong Kong (China), Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Myanmar and host country Vietnam.
During the 4 days of competition, athletes will compete in 20 events for men and women: single boat, double boat, 4-person boat and 8-person boat... under the direction of 36 international referees and 65 Vietnamese referees.
