Ho Chi Minh City National University recruits 20 'elite' scientists as lecturers

TPO - 20 young scientists have just been recruited to work at Ho Chi Minh City National University under the talent attraction program. These are excellent scientists who graduated from the world's top 100 universities.

Ho Chi Minh City National University has just announced the recruitment results of the program to attract outstanding young scientists and leading scientists to work at Ho Chi Minh City National University (VNU350 Program) in the second phase of 2025.

The program received 32 applications and all of them were valid. After the application review and academic interview process, 20 candidates were admitted to 7 affiliated units, including: University of Technology (8 people), University of Social Sciences and Humanities (1 person), International University (2 people), University of Economics and Law (3 people), An Giang University (1 person), University of Health Sciences (4 people) and Institute of Advanced Materials Technology, Ho Chi Minh City National University (1 person).

The scientists selected this time will receive doctoral training at many of the world's leading educational institutions and research institutes such as the National University of Singapore, Chonnam National University (Korea), Ghent University (Belgium), Trinity College Dublin (Ireland), University of Orléans (France), Eindhoven University of Technology (Netherlands), and Victoria University of Wellington (New Zealand).

Many of them have published dozens of scientific articles in domestic and international journals. In particular, the person with the highest number of publications is up to 69 articles. That is Dr. Nguyen Van Tu (graduated from Pusan ​​National University, Korea), admitted to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University).

The VNU350 program aims to realize the vision of developing Ho Chi Minh City National University into a top research university system in Asia, a place where talents gather and spread Vietnamese knowledge and culture.

To apply for the VNU350 program, candidates need to meet general conditions and standards, such as: Having a doctoral degree; having the ability to teach and conduct independent research; having aspirations, ambitions, and a desire to contribute and dedicate to the development of the country and of Ho Chi Minh City National University.

Candidates are divided into two groups: Young Scientists and Leading Scientists.

For young scientists, it is necessary to meet at least 1 of 4 criteria: Having scientific articles published in prestigious journals and conferences; having inventions and patents that have been successfully registered; having transferred scientific and technological products; having new, promising research directions that are consistent with the development strategy of Ho Chi Minh City National University.

For leading scientists, it is necessary to meet 5 criteria on experience and capacity: Head of research group or laboratory; preside over scientific and technological topics and projects; have works published in prestigious scientific journals or own exclusive invention or patent; have experience in teaching and guiding graduate students; have domestic and international relationships and cooperation.

Ho Chi Minh City National University will assign research topics to scientists with a maximum budget of 200 million - 1 billion VND for the first 2 years. In the following years, the budget will be up to 1 billion VND for young scientists, with support of 10 - 30 billion VND to invest in laboratories or establish strong research groups.

In addition to research-related policies, scientists also enjoy income and other benefits according to the specific policies of the unit where the scientist works, including salary, bonus, additional income, allowances exceeding teaching standards, seniority allowances, scientific research, extraordinary rewards, etc.
