Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Quang Dung, Deputy Head of the Department of Nutrition and Food Safety, Hanoi Medical University, said that alcohol abuse is harmful to health, especially during holidays and days off. Most people who drink alcohol have headaches, fatigue, muscle aches, nausea, thirst, dizziness, sensitivity to light, sound, and sweating. These symptoms can occur during drinking or after a few hours, even lasting until the next day, greatly affecting work and life after drinking alcohol.

The way to reduce drunkenness is not to drink on an empty stomach, drink slowly. Eat before drinking alcohol, avoid drinking alcohol mixed with carbonated soft drinks. When drinking alcohol, you should drink plenty of water in between to significantly reduce the alcohol concentration in your body.

After drinking alcohol, people can drink ginger water to sober up. Ginger has a hot taste that makes the blood vessels circulate better, thereby quickly dissolving alcohol in the body. You can add a small spoon of honey to the hot ginger water so that it can be absorbed quickly and help sober up.

Some other drinks such as lemon juice, orange juice, coconut water, sugarcane, kudzu, watermelon are also effective in sobering up.

You should eat a few slices of bread, crackers from whole grains to reduce the harmful effects. Eating white porridge helps the body stay awake. Refer to the method of calculating the time for the body to eliminate alcohol concentration after drinking.

"The above methods only reduce fatigue but do not reduce the harmful effects of alcohol on the body," the doctor said. After that, you should rest a lot and sleep to help your body recover. Absolutely do not drink more alcohol to recover and become healthier. You need to know your own abilities and should not abuse alcohol, even during normal drinking sessions.

Do not drink carbonated drinks, milk and dairy products, or candy. Do not use yogurt to sober up or induce vomiting, as this can harm your stomach.

The World Health Organization recommends that men should not drink more than 720 ml of beer, 300 ml of wine, or 60 ml of whisky per day. Women should not drink more than 360 ml of beer, 150 ml of wine, or 30 ml of whisky per day. Do not let children and adolescents drink alcohol. Try to control the amount of drinking to the lowest risk level on one occasion.
