Messi scores a beautiful free kick, Inter Miami wins the championship

The Argentine superstar scored twice in the space of five minutes (45 and 45+5) to help Inter Miami win 3-2 against Columbus Crew. With this result, Inter Miami won the Eastern Conference championship. After 32 matches, they have 68 points, 11 points more than the second-placed Columbus Crew and have played one more match. The tournament has only three more rounds to go.

This is the 46th title of Messi's career. The appearance of El Pulga has transformed Inter Miami from a team that "lost everywhere" into a serious candidate for the championship. After winning the Eastern Conference, Inter Miami is also aiming for the overall MLS championship.

In this match, Columbus Crew started better but Inter Miami quickly regained control of the game. In the first half, both teams had goals disallowed. Early in the second half, Columbus Crew scored a goal to reduce the score. After a mistake by Jordi Alba, the ball went to Diego Rossi. This player quickly finished into the Inter Miami net.

In the 48th minute, Luis Suarez regained a two-goal lead for Inter Miami after taking advantage of a mistake by Columbus Crew goalkeeper Schulte.

The match continued to be exciting. In the 61st minute, Columbus Crew reduced the score to 2-3 after Hernandez's successful penalty kick. Unfortunately, in the 63rd minute, the home team Columbus Crew was reduced to 10 men when Camacho was sent off.

Playing with one less player made it difficult for Columbus Crew to level the score. They accepted a 2-3 loss to Inter Miami.
