The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that currently, a cold air mass is strengthening in the North of our country.

It is forecasted that in the evening and night of February 26, this cold air mass will affect the northeastern region, then affect some places in the northwest. The northeast wind inland will gradually strengthen to level 2-3, level 3 in coastal areas.

The North and North Central regions will continue to be cold. From February 27, the Northeast will be very cold, with some mountainous areas experiencing severe cold. During this cold spell, the lowest temperature in the Northeast will be from 11 to 14 degrees Celsius, in the northern mountainous areas from 8 to 11 degrees Celsius, and in some high mountainous areas below 8 degrees Celsius.

After this cold air mass, the North will continue to welcome additional cold air mass in early March.

In Hanoi , temperatures are forecast to drop much lower than what the meteorological agency predicted that morning.

Specifically, on February 26-27, the temperature fluctuated from 13-16 degrees Celsius, by February 28, the temperature increased by about 3 degrees Celsius and continued to increase on February 29. On March 1, the temperature in the capital dropped by 5-6 degrees Celsius and lasted until March 3, the weather was very cold, with some places being extremely cold.

At sea, the northeastern area of the northern East Sea continues to have strong northeast winds at level 6, gusting to level 7 - 8, rough seas; waves from 2 - 4.5 m high. The sea area from Ninh Thuan to Ca Mau, west of the southern East Sea (including the sea area west of Truong Sa archipelago) has strong northeast winds at level 5, sometimes level 6, gusting to level 7; waves from 2 - 3.5 m high; rough seas.

The Meteorological Agency warns that from the evening and night of February 26-27, there will be scattered rain and light rain in the North and North Central regions. From the night of February 26-27, the area from Quang Binh to Khanh Hoa will have scattered rain and showers and thunderstorms in some places. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

Strong winds and large waves at sea can affect the operation of ships and other activities. Severe cold can affect livestock and poultry; and greatly affect the growth and development of crops.
