Speaking at the rally, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Ngo Vu Thang emphasized that environmental protection work in the province has recently achieved quite good results such as: the tree planting movement has been increasingly interested, the rate of household waste collection has increased, waste treatment models have been replicated. However, the classification of household waste at source and solid waste treatment have not been invested in; waste treatment plants do not meet standards, water pollution caused by living and production activities has negatively affected the ecological environment.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that all levels, sectors and people need to be more aware of protecting the environment and natural resources; protecting and developing forests, seas and islands. In particular, special attention should be paid to reducing plastic waste; applying advanced, environmentally friendly technology in recycling and waste treatment; effectively implementing the movement against plastic pollution as well as giving up the habit of littering, raising the sense of responsibility of the community.

In Vietnam, it is estimated that about 1.8 million tons of plastic waste is generated each year, but only about 27% of the waste is recycled, the rest is buried or burned, causing waste of resources and posing many potential environmental risks. With the theme "Combating Plastic Pollution", World Environment Day 2025 calls on the global community to take drastic action to address plastic waste; emphasizing the urgency of the fight against plastic waste, which is causing serious damage to the ecological environment, biodiversity and global public health.
