To effectively implement the model, the department has directed specialized units to conduct surveys and inspect the actual conditions of registered households and support 50% of breeds, food, veterinary medicine, machinery and equipment, and provide guidance on technical care procedures.
Accordingly, households have proactively applied intensive fish farming processes, and at the same time recorded full logs of care, feeding, and disease treatment for the fish. The fish fry provided are of good quality, growing and developing well.
According to the assessment of participating households, the intensive fish farming model gives an average yield of 10-13 tons/ha, 5-6 times higher; profit from 80-100 million VND/ha, 2-3 times higher than traditional fish farming.
Implementing mechanisms and policies to support restructuring of fisheries, currently in the province, concentrated, large-scale aquaculture areas have been formed in the communes and towns of Vinh Phu, Tu Trung, Sao Dai Viet (Vinh Tuong); Lien Chau, Tam Hong, Nguyet Duc (Yen Lac).
In the first 5 months of the year, total aquaculture output reached nearly 10,300 tons, up 3.25% over the same period.
