To save irrigation water during the dry season, in mid-2023, Ms. Nguyen Thi Oanh's family in Ma Ty village, Phuoc Thang commune (Bac Ai) invested more than 70 million VND to install a drip irrigation system for nearly 2.4 hectares of sugarcane land. Currently, her family's sugarcane is more than 2 months old and is growing well. Ms. Oanh said: This is the first crop that my family has applied water-saving irrigation technology using a drip irrigation system. This system has many advantages such as: reducing labor, saving time, saving irrigation water, and at the same time ensuring moisture for sugarcane to grow, especially during the dry season. Currently, my family is fertilizing the first batch of sugarcane to grow. Like Ms. Oanh's family, although it is in the dry season, the fruit garden with an area of over 0.5 hectares of Mr. Chamaléa Que's family in Suoi Kho village, Phuoc Chinh commune (Bac Ai) is still growing well thanks to the sprinkler irrigation system. Mr. Que said: My family's fruit garden is nearly a year old with varieties such as: Thai jackfruit, mango, banana, and sapodilla. The water source is taken from Cay Cau stream and is also stable. Since applying this model, I have found it very effective. I water the plants twice a week, just turn on the motor and spray, which helps keep the soil moist, the roots develop, and the plants grow and develop well.
Thanks to the application of drip irrigation model to help the sugarcane field of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Oanh's family in Ma Ty village,
Phuoc Thang commune (Bac Ai) develops well in the dry season.
In An Hai commune (Ninh Phuoc), recently, through programs and projects, the locality has focused on supporting people to install water-saving irrigation systems such as: sprinkler irrigation, drip irrigation, mist irrigation to help people produce effectively on sandy land. Producing in sandy land, more than 3 sao of green asparagus of Ms. Chau Thi Thuy's family in Tuan Tu village, An Hai commune still grows well thanks to enough irrigation water. Ms. Thuy confided: Applying the sprinkler irrigation model helps green asparagus achieve high productivity thanks to the moisture in the soil being maintained at all times; at the same time, it helps me save time following the water, operate easily and save more electricity than flood irrigation. Mr. Tu Cong Y, Vice Chairman of the Farmers' Association of An Hai commune, said: Currently, the area of land for producing crops in the commune is about 300 hectares, of which people have applied the water-saving irrigation model for about 200 hectares. In the coming time, the locality will continue to encourage people to install sprinkler irrigation systems to save water and labor, helping to bring high economic efficiency in agricultural production.
Investment and application of automatic water-saving irrigation technology are developing strongly in many localities in our province, especially in production areas that often experience water shortages in the dry season. In fact, bold investment and application of automatic irrigation technology such as drip irrigation, sprinkler irrigation, mist irrigation... help farmers reduce about 30% of irrigation water and investment costs, while producing even in the dry season. In addition, it helps people reduce labor and improve production efficiency. With the results, our province now has nearly 2,000 hectares, of which more than 800 hectares of perennial trees and nearly 1,200 hectares of annual trees apply sprinkler irrigation, mist irrigation, and drip irrigation technology.
Mr. Truong Khac Tri, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said: The synchronous application of water-saving irrigation solutions will bring great efficiency such as: Reducing costs, saving water resources for other living needs. In the future, we will continue to replicate this model to help people stabilize production, develop the economy, and increase family income. In addition, strengthen coordination with related units to regulate water reasonably to contribute to ensuring irrigation areas to avoid local water shortages during the dry season...
