Modric (39 years old) will play his last match for Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, when they host Real Sociedad in the final round of La Liga on May 24.

Before this match, Modric shared on Instagram: "That moment has come. The moment that I never wanted to come, but that's football, and that's life, everything has a beginning and an end."

The Croatian star has enjoyed the most successful period in Real Madrid's history, winning 28 trophies, including six Champions League titles and four La Liga titles, since joining from Tottenham in 2012. He is also the only player to beat Messi and Ronaldo to win the 2018 Ballon d'Or.

Talking about his journey with Real Madrid, Modric said: "I came here in 2012 with the hope of playing for the best team in the world and the ambition to do great things, but I could not imagine what would happen next.

Playing for Real Madrid has changed my life as a footballer and a person. I am proud to have been part of the most successful era of the best team in history."

Real Madrid will open their 2025 Club World Cup campaign against Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal on June 18, before facing Mexico's Pachuca and Austria's RB Salzburg in the group stage.
