Building a green - clean - sustainable Dong Nai
Dong Nai is one of the dynamically developing provinces in the Southeast region, with rapid urbanization and concentration of many large industrial zones. Along with socio -economic development, the pressure on the environment is increasing, especially from industrial waste and household waste.

In recent years, the province has implemented many synchronous solutions, forcing industrial zones and clusters to invest in centralized wastewater treatment systems; functional agencies have strengthened inspection, supervision and strictly handled violations. Along with that, programs for waste classification at source and recycling of domestic solid waste have been expanded in urban and residential areas. At the end of July 2025, the People's Council of Dong Nai province issued Resolution No. 21/NQ-HDND on the 2025 socio-economic development, national defense and security plan of Dong Nai province. Accordingly, the environmental targets set are 78.8% of domestic solid waste and 98% of industrial zones operating in the province have centralized wastewater treatment plants that meet environmental standards.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Truong Son said that Dong Nai considers environmental protection as one of the three pillars of development, associated with the goal of building a green - clean - sustainable Dong Nai. In that spirit, the province has set specific targets: by 2030, 100% of domestic solid waste will be collected, at least 70% will be recycled, reused or processed to recover energy; reduce 50% of disposable plastic waste in urban areas and tourist areas by the end of 2025; plant and care for more than 10 million trees in the 2021-2030 period, raising the forest coverage rate of the whole province to more than 56%. In addition, the province requires 100% of industrial parks and clusters to have a wastewater treatment system that meets standards before discharging into the environment. Enterprises are encouraged to apply clean, energy-saving technology, aiming for environmentally friendly production.
To mobilize the strength of the entire population, in 2025, the province launched the “Make the World Cleaner” Campaign; not only to raise awareness but also to encourage the community to participate in environmental activities, towards a green economy and a circular economy. This is also a concrete step for Dong Nai to effectively implement Vietnam’s international commitment to environmental protection and climate change adaptation.
The 11th Congress of the Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030, continues to identify the following goals: promoting waste classification and collection at source; improving waste treatment infrastructure; innovating waste treatment technology; developing environmental protection and regeneration services; encouraging the efficient use of energy and eco-labels; conserving biodiversity, developing protective forests and special-use forests, and building a modern and sustainable forestry sector. These goals not only demonstrate the province's political determination, but also its commitment to the people for a safe and clean living environment.
Maintain effective solid waste collection and treatment
In recent years, Dong Nai has always focused on synchronously implementing solutions to improve the effectiveness of solid waste management. The province has invested in infrastructure, applied technology in waste classification and treatment, and at the same time strengthened coordination between sectors and localities to ensure that the collection process takes place regularly and continuously. Thanks to that, up to now, 100% of solid waste generated in the area has been collected and treated according to regulations, contributing to building a clean urban landscape and protecting a healthy living environment for people. In addition to the efforts of the government, people's awareness in classifying and disposing of waste in the right place has also been raised, creating a clear change in the community. This is a remarkable result, showing Dong Nai's perseverance and determination in moving towards the goal of environmental protection.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of the province, the locality has achieved the targets set out in the Provincial Party Committee's resolution, including: the rate of collection and treatment of non-hazardous and hazardous industrial waste reaching 100%; the rate of industrial clusters with investors in operation with centralized wastewater treatment systems meeting environmental standards is 10/10 industrial clusters reaching 100%; the rate of industrial parks in operation with stable wastewater volume and automatic monitoring systems installed in 36/36 industrial parks reaching 100%. In addition, through the implementation of source-based classification of domestic solid waste in the province, which has been deployed and implemented by departments, branches and People's Committees of communes and wards, it shows that households reach 59.8%; agencies and units reach 100%.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment of the province said that in the coming time, the Department will continue to monitor and supervise the situation of waste collection and treatment at centralized waste treatment areas to ensure the treatment rate according to regulations. Synthesize survey results and propose and report to the Provincial People's Committee to handle temporary landfills in the province. At the same time, the Department will also synthesize the results of inspection and handling of environmental pollution of brick kilns operating in An Phuoc commune (road to Long Duc industrial park), report to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and direction; advise and implement the development of a resolution to collect fees for appraisal of environmental impact assessment reports, and issue environmental licenses under the direction of the Provincial People's Committee. The Department will advise the Provincial People's Committee to submit to the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee to issue a Directive on strengthening leadership in implementing the classification of domestic solid waste at source and the collection, transportation and treatment of domestic solid waste after being classified.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment also conducts consultation and implementation of regular tasks on appraisal and approval of environmental impact assessment reports, issuance of environmental licenses; appraisal and notification of payment of environmental protection fees for industrial wastewater and emissions. Coordinate with the consulting unit after the contract is signed to implement research and assessment of the current status of greenhouse gas emissions in the province under the Project "Carbon reduction in Dong Nai province by 2030, vision to 2050"; training plan for cadres, civil servants and public employees to do green transformation work, Net Zero in the direction of updating content and scope in the old Binh Phuoc province.
