Compared to the same period in 2024, the number of cases decreased by 21.4%, however the value of seized goods increased sharply, up to nearly 96%.
Notably, during the peak period from May 16 to June 3, 2025 under the direction of the Government , the authorities handled 36 cases, seizing tons of frozen foods of unknown origin such as: pig's feet, pig's brain, chicken feet, duck eggs, and many other consumer products such as cosmetics, children's toys... with an estimated value of more than 1.81 billion VND.
Of which, the number of arrests related to animals and animal products was 9 cases/9 subjects, worth 305.03 million VND; goods included 890 kg of frozen pig trotters, 610 kg of frozen pig tripe, 2,060 kg of frozen chicken feet, 614 kg of sausage, 1,040 kg of young chicken eggs, 300 kg of frozen beef tripe; 3,720 duck eggs.
Of the 36 cases, Customs units arrested and handled 25 cases/25 subjects, with the value of seized goods being 780.43 million VND; Border Guard stations arrested and handled 3 cases/3 subjects, with the value of seized goods being 69.95 million VND; Market Management Team No. 4 arrested and handled 8 cases/8 subjects, with the value of seized goods being 961.284 million VND.
Customs, Border Guard, Market Management and Police forces have closely coordinated to detect violations right at border gates and inland routes. In addition, legal dissemination and internal discipline control have been strengthened, ensuring deterrence and long-term effectiveness.
Mong Cai City is continuing to synchronously deploy solutions, focusing on key areas, taking advantage of complex terrain or e-commerce to commit violations. The goal is to prevent the formation of hot spots for smuggling and trade fraud, contributing to protecting consumer rights.
