A Lao Cai student is in the top 15 Vietnamese students participating in the Asia-Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO)

That is Nguyen Huy Phong, a student in grade 11 specializing in IT, Lao Cai Provincial High School for the Gifted.

It is known that at the National Competition for Excellent Students in Information Technology, Nguyen Huy Phong was one of 32 students with the highest scores and was the first student from Lao Cai province to be in the top 15 students representing the Vietnamese team to participate in the 19th Asia- Pacific Informatics Olympiad (APIO) hosted by Uzbekistan.

The exam will take place online on May 17 and 18.

Huy Phong also just won the third prize in the Super Cup of the High School Block in the 33rd Vietnam Student Informatics Olympiad (OLP'24). The competition took place from December 10 to 13, 2024 at Hanoi University of Industry, gathering more than 700 students from 87 universities, colleges, academies and high schools across the country. The Super Cup is the most prestigious playground, gathering the top outstanding faces in the field of informatics.
