A Binh Thuan farmer won the title of "Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer" in 2024

The Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union has just decided to award the title of "Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer" in 2024 to 63 farmers from 63 provinces and cities across the country. In Binh Thuan, farmer Nguyen Minh Tam (born in 1981) in Thien Trung village, Thien Nghiep commune, Phan Thiet city was honored to receive this title.

It is known that Mr. Tam has succeeded with a green agricultural chain of raising regional specialties, combined with eco-tourism experiences with a production area of ​​10 hectares; output of 18 tons of meat/year, achieving very high and sustainable economic value. In addition, the business and service sectors are being implemented effectively including clean food trade, Farm tourism experiences, restaurants bringing in a total income of about 8 billion VND/year, profit of 10%.

Mr. Tam was a chemistry teacher at a high school in the province. During his time teaching, he started a business raising 3 pairs of French pigeons to earn extra income. After 10 years, he had developed a flock of pigeons to 3,000 pairs with 3 breeding farms, but encountered difficulties in output, leading to bankruptcy. After nearly 3 years of research and learning from experiences in other localities across the country, Mr. Tam has drawn up a successful formula for himself and farmers raising specialty animals, which is "Output - Technique - Passion". In 2018, this farmer started a business for the second time and succeeded in raising regional specialties such as sand lizards - jungle fowl - pigeons, and purchasing products for the people. At the same time, each year, he participates in over 30 training courses and transfers techniques for raising specialty animals to farmers' associations in communes and districts in and outside the province. In 2024, Mr. Tam won the second prize for innovation in Binh Thuan province for the Green Agricultural Chain Project of raising regional specialties combined with experiential ecotourism. This project is in line with the trend of the Party and State in developing green agriculture, circular agriculture, environmentally friendly, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, for the health of the community.

It is known that the title of Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer is awarded annually on the occasion of the anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Farmers' Association (October 14) to typical and advanced farmers in production and business activities, with creative inventions effectively applied in production; and active in the movement to build new rural areas.
