The Red Devils have been in lengthy talks with Brentford over the transfer of the Cameroon star.

Two offers sent by MU, with the highest fee of 62.5 million pounds, were both rejected by the Community Stadium team.

Despite Mbeumo making it clear his desire to move to Old Trafford this summer, Brentford are still refusing to budge on the negotiating table.

According to The Guardian, at the end of June, MU Football Director Jason Wilcox believed that a contract package worth 65 million pounds was enough to complete the deal.

But Brentford have since upped their asking price for the 26-year-old attacker to almost £70m.

In the context of financial difficulties, MU is determined not to be pressured to pay a larger amount, also known as "United tax" every time they go shopping.

Mbeumo's contract with Brentford has one year left, with an option for a further 12 months. So they continue to stand firm on the Mbeumo deal.

As for the Red Devils, the only worthy new signing to arrive at Old Trafford this summer is Matheus Cunha. In addition, they welcomed two more young talents, Diego Leon and Enzo Kana-Biyik.

Despite the difficulties, the MEN newspaper revealed that Red Devils leaders still hope to reach an agreement to recruit Mbeumo before MU flies to the US for a tour early next week.
