Phil Foden (right, Manchester City) scores against Everton
After a hard-fought 1-0 win over Brentford before the FIFA series, Manchester City will want to regain their winning spirit when they host Everton at home at 9pm today, October 18. In December, Everton held Manchester City to a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium (Erling Haaland missed a penalty in the second half) and Pep Guardiola is determined that this will not happen again.
Manchester City are determined to stay in the title race and will be all out against Everton. Spanish midfielder Rodri, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Abdukodir Khusanov remain in the treatment room, while former Porto player Nico could come in. Egyptian winger Omar Marmoush remains a doubt and will be assessed before kick-off.
In theory, Everton can completely shock Manchester City when they disappointed the Etihad Stadium audience last season, and currently they are only 2 points behind Manchester City, so they are only 3 places behind in the rankings. They are also shocking in the Premier League when they just beat Crystal Palace - the team with the most impressive form in the league.
But manager David Moyes has a very poor record against Pep Guardiola's side: Moyes has lost all eight of his last Premier League away games against Manchester City, during his spells in charge of Man United (1), Sunderland (1) and West Ham (6). The last time he avoided defeat at the Etihad was when he was in charge of Everton in his first spell in December 2012.
While Jarrad Branthwaite, Michael Keane and Merlin Rohl are all still in the recovery room, midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has returned from suspension, but there is no guarantee Everton can be as solid at the Etihad as they were 10 months ago.
Furthermore, attacking midfielder Jack Grealish cannot play for Everton against Man City due to a loan contract (Man City loaned him to Everton). The £100 million star in 2021 is thriving for Everton, so without him, the Merseyside team's attacking power and ability to cause shock will be significantly reduced.
Opta supercomputer predicts Everton's chance of a draw at 18.5% while Man City's chance of winning is up to 65.9%.
The experts all agree that Everton will lose easily, the only question is by what score. Former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson predicts a 2-0 result, former striker Chris Sutton also chooses the same score, former BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson predicts a 4-1 margin while former manager Harry Redknapp believes the margin will be just 3-1.
Prediction: Manchester City – Everton 3-1

The initial odds of the match were Manchester City to win 1.5 goals, 97-95. By yesterday afternoon, the market had changed to 90-97, and this morning Manchester City's price was 90-97. Even though the market was slightly bearish for the upper hand, it was risky to choose the lower hand.

Last season's 1-1 draw was still a shock, with few believing it would be repeated. The odds for a 1-1 this time are 9.2 to 1. The most popular odds are for Manchester City to win 2-0, which are priced at 7.1, while 1-0 is 7.5 and 2-1 is 8. A 3-0 is priced at 9.2, while 3-1 is 11. 2-2 and 0-1 are both fantastic results, with odds of 20 to 1.
