The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City has just officially issued the plan for the 25th "Good Literature and Good Writing" contest. This year, the program is organized on the basis of merging this contest and the Sao Khue Award (13th time, school year 2024 - 2025).
According to the Department of Education and Training, the contest aims to create a learning, exchange and entertainment environment for middle and high school students who are passionate about literary creation and love the art of writing. Through the process of writing well and practicing beautiful handwriting, students develop literary competence (communication competence, aesthetic competence, thinking competence, creativity) and good qualities (knowing how to observe, discover and appreciate beauty; having a rich spiritual life; being persistent and patient).
In particular, the requirements for “Good Literature” include: Students master the skills of writing essays according to the specific requirements of the curriculum; know how to use language artistically and effectively. Students know how to discover and be moved by the beauty and good values of life; demonstrate the ability to observe, think, and argue; express sincere thoughts and emotions, personal perspectives, and personal thoughts.
Students have the ability to be creative in the content and form of their writing. The score for the "Good Writing" section is 6.0 points.

The "Good Literature and Handwriting" contest is organized annually by the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City.
Requirements for “Good Handwriting” include: Beautiful, clear, balanced, harmonious handwriting, soft, polished strokes. Demonstrates individuality and creativity in the art of writing. Elements related to the form of the essay (presentation, argumentation, layout, etc.) must be clear, clean, scientific , reasonable, and convincing. The score for the “Good Handwriting” section is 4.0 points.
Students who are enrolled in grades 6-11 at public schools in the 2025-2026 school year are eligible to participate.
The final round at the city level will take place on January 14, 2026, scheduled at Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted (3/2 Street, Phuoc Thang Ward, HCMC).
The content of the exam in this round includes: Activity 1: Experience (according to the specific program of the organizing committee). Activity 2: Writing (according to the "Writing" requirements of the grade the student is studying; the content of the writing section is related to the experience activity; integrating writing skills of many types of essays, prioritizing essays with high requirements on creativity). The total time for the 2 experience and writing activities is 120 minutes.
Good writing test: What events and images of Ho Chi Minh City's youth should be chosen to put in the museum?The Department of Education and Training of the City also said that the contest is not subject to the regulations on subjects and incentive levels of Resolution No. 35/2024 of the People's Council of Ho Chi Minh City. The organizing committee of the contest will award certificates of merit from the Director of the Department of Education and Training to the winning individuals.
