The program was organized by SunUni Academy in collaboration with Thanh Nien Newspaper to announce the S80 scholarship program (S80 International Education Scholarship) in 2025 with the theme "Generation S80, rising up with Vietnamese knowledge".
At the seminar, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thuy Hong, former Deputy Director of the Department of Teachers, Ministry of Education and Training, said that Resolution 71 on breakthrough development of education and training aims to make English the second language in schools. The Government has also approved the Project "Making English the second language in schools for the period 2025-2035, with a vision to 2045".
This is a correct policy, suitable for the context of globalization and will be an opportunity for all students to learn English, changing the perspective of teaching the subject in schools.

In the past, English was taught as a foreign language and in the future it will be used in a wider and more popular communication environment and gradually move towards teaching subjects in English in places with sufficient conditions. English will help the nation reach out to the world.
However, Dr. Nguyen Thuy Hong also said that to achieve the expected goals, we face many challenges in renewing the teaching program, preparing staff, facilities, and technological conditions to teach English to students, university students, and working people.
"English is one of the subjects that applies information technology very well, especially in testing and assessment with the support of AI. This has significantly changed the teaching and learning process, from preparing questions, designing content to assessment methods," said Ms. Hong.
Ms. Natalia Sasha Goodwin, Director of the Center for Academic Development, British University Vietnam, emphasized the challenges that Vietnamese students face from the strong transformation of knowledge and the emergence of AI. The young generation of Vietnam is more proactive, more open, and more willing to learn than ever before. However, the most important ability to overcome that change is perseverance and persistence in pursuing goals, even when learning methods, learning tools, or learning environments are constantly changing.
Participating in the discussion, musician Nguyen Van Chung told the story of how, when he was a student in high school, he also had difficulty with pronunciation and grammar. Sitting in class, the teachers lectured but he could not understand the lesson.
After that, with perseverance and persistent effort, he learned foreign languages well and passed the entrance exam to the school he wanted. And even when he became a musician, he did not have many opportunities to work in a foreign language communication environment, but he still had the opportunity to exchange and cooperate to have his works translated into English.
“I also encourage my children to learn English well, and to know 2-3 foreign languages is even better. I say, they can freely choose their career, but when they have a foreign language, job opportunities and income will also be commensurate,” musician Nguyen Van Chung shared.
The S80 International Education Scholarship program seeks candidates with academic ability, learning spirit, discipline - perseverance, ability to contribute to the community and leadership potential; priority is given to candidates with difficult circumstances but know how to overcome.
It is expected that the Organizing Committee will award 8,000 scholarships (full and partial, including partial scholarships up to 70%), applicable to programs from foundation to IELTS 7.5 target, suitable for many different levels of ability of students.
