YouTube has just introduced the Recap 2025 feature, a summary of users' video viewing and music listening activities throughout the year.
Recap is released in North America from December 2 and will expand globally in the first week of December.
According to information from YouTube's official blog, users can access Recap right on the homepage or the "You" section of the mobile application and desktop version. Accounts need to log in and update to the latest version to activate the feature.

Recap 2025 provides a series of personalized data cards, including: most-watched channels and videos, total watch time, popular viewing topics, and timelines that show how viewing habits have changed over the year. For accounts that regularly listen to music, Recap also shows statistics on the most-played artists, songs, and music videos.

Data cards are designed as a news story on social media platforms.
This year, YouTube expanded its Recap graphics with beautifully designed image and video templates, allowing users to easily share their recaps on social media.
Each user is also assigned a “viewer personality,” based on the type of content they watch most, such as “connection hub,” “challenge junkie,” or “progress warrior.”

Each user is assigned a “viewer persona”.
According to ScreenRant, Recap 2025 comes at a time when YouTube usage is on the rise. Nielsen data shows that in October 2025, Americans spent 45.7% of their TV viewing time on streaming services; YouTube alone accounted for 12.9% - higher than Netflix and Disney+ combined.
ScreenRant believes that the diversity of content on the platform is a factor that helps YouTube continue to hold the top position, and this will be clearly reflected in individual Recaps.
Note that Recap is only available when watch history is enabled. Accounts that are monitored or have history disabled will not have enough data to generate a year-end summary.

In Vietnam, the keyword 'youtube recap 2025' increased sharply in the first days after its launch, according to Google Trends statistics.
