In the context of the global digital economy , digital transformation and promoting e-commerce are among the key driving forces helping Vietnam integrate, improve competitiveness and expand export markets.
This orientation is clearly affirmed in Decision No. 645/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on the Master Plan for National E-commerce Development for the 2021-2025 period, accordingly, e-commerce is identified as a pioneering field, applying digital technology to modernize production systems, distribution models, improve business efficiency and create momentum for sustainable growth for exports.
To realize these goals, the formation and development of a synchronized e-commerce ecosystem from domestic to foreign markets, from manufacturers to international distribution channels in an effective manner is indispensable. Efforts to promote a sustainable e-commerce ecosystem in Vietnam are being actively implemented by the Ministry of Industry and Trade through many specific action programs.
Key focuses include institutional improvement and policy development to create a favorable legal environment, capacity building for businesses and communities through training and SME support programs, infrastructure and technology development with cashless payment solutions, smart logistics and AI, along with promoting international cooperation and cross-border e-commerce to seek and expand export channels to foreign markets.
Efforts to promote a sustainable e-commerce ecosystem in Vietnam are being actively implemented by the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy, Ministry of Industry and Trade through many specific action programs.
One of the outstanding events is the Vietnam E-commerce and Digital Technology Application Forum 2025 , taking place from September 4-6, 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City, within the framework of the Exhibition and Event connecting the international supply chain of goods Vietnam International Sourcing 2025. The Forum is expected to be an important bridge, gathering experts, policy makers and e-commerce and digital technology enterprises from many countries to share knowledge, experience and orient breakthrough solutions for the development of e-commerce and Vietnam's digital economy in the coming time.
With the coordination of more than 60 Vietnamese Trade Offices abroad, the Forum is expected to welcome over 300 international business delegations from many countries; international delegations coming to Vietnam to seek cooperation opportunities, import goods and connect investment.
In particular, the Forum will create conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to trade directly with potential partners in the fields of cross-border e-commerce, logistics and digital technology transfer. The presence of a large number of international buyers and investors promises to open up great opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises to expand export markets and participate more deeply in the global supply chain, thereby improving competitiveness.
