People in Tan Dan village, Tan Thanh commune have access to clean water that meets standards. |
After upgrading, the project to build a model of applying automation technology in domestic water supply has brought about changes for hundreds of ethnic minority households in the three villages of Ta Vai, Ban Tuy, Doan Ket, Ngoc Duong commune. Mr. Luc Van Lam, Head of the Management Team, who is also a beneficiary of the project, shared: Previously, only a few households in the village had a source of water to use, the rest of the people used water for daily activities. In the rainy season, the water was turbid but still enough to use, in the dry season, it was very difficult. "Now that there is a water supply project, 100% of the people can use it, everyone is happy" - Mr. Luc said excitedly. It is known that the domestic water supply project in Ngoc Duong commune was built with capital from the World Bank, however, due to limited capacity, in the past, water was only supplied to a few households around the project area. In 2025, from the budget and the New Rural Construction Program, the project was upgraded with 319 connection points, with a capacity of nearly 60 m3/day and night.
Joy has come to the people of Toat village, Hung Loi commune when the clean water project serving more than 170 households in the village was upgraded and repaired.
Mr. Trieu Van Giap, Head of Toat Village, shared that in the past, during the dry season, from January to April, the whole village did not have enough water to use. During the rainy season, the water was very muddy and unsanitary. Now, with a clean water project and water pipes reaching every household, people no longer have to worry about a lack of water for daily use, and their quality of life has improved a lot. According to Mr. Giap, he used to live without water for daily use, so now that he has water, the villagers take good care of it. Although the water project is installed right in the village, the water source is very abundant, the whole village agrees with the Management Board to pump water hourly so that people can store water for economical use and not waste it.
In addition to capital from the programs, the Department of Agriculture and Environment also coordinates with credit institutions to implement preferential loan programs to invest in the construction of clean water projects, gradually improving the quality of life of rural residents. A representative of the Social Policy Bank, Tuyen Quang branch, said: By mid-August, over 175.9 billion VND had been borrowed for over 26,975 households to invest in clean water supply and use projects, with loan levels ranging from 20-50 million VND/household.
The upgraded, repaired and newly built works have met the demand for domestic water for people in rural areas, especially in disadvantaged areas. To ensure the quality of water sources, the Department of Agriculture and Environment has directed specialized units to strengthen inspection, monitoring and analysis of water indicators. According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the rate of rural people having enough clean water for daily use is currently over 90%, of which over 50% of households have access to clean water that meets quality standards.
Comrade Phung The Hieu, Head of the Department of Geology, Minerals and Water Resources, said: Water is an extremely valuable resource, especially in recent years, the impact of climate change along with the low awareness of protecting this valuable resource of a part of the rural population, leading to risks affecting the quality and reserves of water resources. To protect water resources and increase the proportion of rural residents using clean water that meets standards, no one other than rural residents must be aware of and responsible for protecting water resources and maintaining water supply works. This is also a way to share opportunities for many rural people, especially those in difficult areas, to use clean water, thereby improving the quality of life.
