On May 8, the 108 Military Central Hospital (BV 108) said that the hospital's doctors had just received treatment for a female patient (31 years old, in Bac Giang ) with a breast abscess and staphylococcus aureus infection after breast augmentation at a spa facility.

This female patient was taken to the Plastic and Microsurgery Department with a swollen, hot, red and painful left breast. According to the patient, a month ago, after hearing an advertisement on social media, this woman went to a spa facility with the desire to improve her bust, so she spent 6 million VND for the spa to use shock waves to increase breast volume. However, during the procedure, the spa owner said that the patient's breast condition required a more advanced shock wave service and asked for a payment of 20 million VND, which the patient could pay later or in installments. After that, this female customer was blindfolded by the spa, injected with an unknown type and quantity of filler, and had threads implanted into her breast.

Doctors at Hospital 108 performed a procedure to drain fluid from the chest of a female patient in Bac Giang who had swelling after breast augmentation at a spa.

The next day, the female patient had chest pain, difficulty breathing, and a red rash all over her body, so she was taken to the emergency room at Bac Thang Long General Hospital. After that, the woman returned to the spa to have her stitches dissolved and removed, and was given anti-inflammatory antibiotics for nearly a month, but her left breast still had persistent pain. Therefore, the female patient went to Hospital 108.

After examination and testing, the doctors performed surgery to incise the left chest and drained 40cc of cloudy yellow fluid. Notably, after draining the fluid from the left chest, through testing, the doctors discovered staphylococcus aureus bacteria in the fluid.

Dr. Luu Phuong Lan, Department of Plastic Surgery and Microsurgery, said that because the substances injected into the chest are of unknown origin and not licensed by the Ministry of Health , they cause inflammation and necrosis of the mammary gland parenchyma. There have been many cases of mammary gland abscesses after injection of foreign substances, requiring multiple surgeries, causing destruction of the mammary gland parenchyma, even removing the entire mammary gland parenchyma.
