NCSP and BIENDONG POC complete 2025 offshore pipeline survey

(Chinhphu.vn) - Nam Con Son Gas Pipeline Company (NCSP) has just completed the coordination with Bien Dong Petroleum Operating Company (BIENDONG POC), successfully implementing the periodic survey of the pipeline system and offshore underground components. This is a periodic activity every 2 years under the pipeline integrity management program, contributing to ensuring operational safety and maintaining the stability of PV GAS' gas supply system.

For the offshore oil and gas industry, pipeline systems play a vital role in safely and stably transporting gas and liquid flows from exploitation platforms to the mainland. Because they are located deep under the seabed and are often affected by strong currents, high pressure, environmental corrosion and complex geological factors, these pipelines need to be periodically inspected and maintained to ensure technical reliability as well as prolong the life of the project and prevent environmental risks.

NCSP and BIENDONG POC's 2025 offshore pipeline survey continues to be deployed using ROV (remotely operated vehicle) equipment and technology. On May 22, 2025, representatives of NCSP, BIENDONG POC and the ROV system were brought onto the PTSC Binh An ROV support vessel and set off for deployment in the operating sea area. The survey campaign was carried out at 5 offshore locations, focusing on areas with many important structures, pipe connections and areas with high safety requirements.

The modern ROV equipment surveyed the current state of the protective coating, the level of erosion, helping to detect exposed metal points, the condition of the connection cluster, the effectiveness of electrochemical corrosion protection and gas leakage detection (if any). The data collected through the survey was processed, analyzed and compiled into a detailed technical report. This report helps to assess the current state of the entire pipeline, identify locations that need special monitoring in the next phase, and at the same time provide a scientific basis for making decisions on repairs, investment in upgrading and maintenance planning in the next cycle.

The project was carefully prepared and planned, with close coordination between NCSP, BIENDONG POC and the professional departments of PetroVietnam Gas Corporation (PV GAS). In particular, the plan to share resources and use vessels and equipment between NCSP and BIENDONG POC not only significantly reduced implementation costs but also increased overall operational efficiency, making the most of the equipment and human resources of both parties. In particular, it also shortened the implementation time.

The conclusion after the operation is: NCSP's subsea gas system is still in safe and environmentally friendly operation, ensuring the completion of the 24/7 gas transportation task.

The success of the survey not only demonstrates the technical capacity and experience accumulated over many years of operation of NCSP but also demonstrates the determination to maintain safety - environment - efficiency standards according to international standards, affirming the thorough investment and high sense of responsibility of NCSP/PV GAS to protect national assets and promote the sustainable development of Vietnam's gas industry.
