Inspired by her maternal grandfather, a doctor of Law and Economics from Sorbone University (France), To Thi constantly strives to realize her dream of becoming a lawyer.
Le To Thi, a student at Olympia High School ( Hanoi ), recently received good news when she was accepted into two American universities. The female student was awarded the highest scholarship from the President of DePauw University, a top 50 university in the US, for students with excellent academic achievements. In addition, she was also awarded a scholarship for outstanding international students and nominated to participate in the Honorary Scholar program.
“Although I have not decided on my next university destination, no matter which school I attend, I will choose the right major to fulfill my dream of becoming a lawyer in the future,” To Thi said.

The Hanoi student said that her dream of becoming a lawyer came naturally to her. When she was a child, To Thi saw a picture of her great-grandfather wearing a long gown, receiving a doctorate in law and economics from the Sorbone University (France), hanging solemnly in her house every day. Or whenever the extended family had a chance to gather, the discussions always revolved around topics of society, economics, and politics .
Living in that environment, Thi's desire to study law gradually grew. She began to enjoy learning and blogging in English, commenting on social issues, from the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris to the Thai royal family, or the strategic partnership between Russia and North Korea. Events such as the US Federal Reserve's interest rate changes, the election in Venezuela affecting the oil market... are also topics in Thi's recent commentary.
Setting an early goal of studying law in the US, To Thi began to equip herself with basic knowledge of related fields such as economics and political science. The female student also participated in many extracurricular activities and exams to recognize her own abilities and limitations.

In addition, Thi is also an excellent delegate of many Model United Nations (MUN) programs, participating in many debate competitions and achieving high results. In early 2024, Thi was one of 16 students selected to be in the source team for the Vietnam National Debate team.
In the project of translating and publishing copyrighted English books, as the project leader, To Thi and her friends successfully translated and published Taking Flight - the autobiography of a war orphan and his journey to becoming a famous ballet star.
Regarding the essay, Thi believes that this is where candidates can best express themselves beyond their scores. Therefore, she chose to write about her desire to study law and the factors that influenced her family or her observations of social, economic, and political events to form this dream.
“Each student will have their own experiences and dreams. Therefore, as long as you are open-minded and eager to make your dreams come true, you will find ideas and materials to write your essay. Through this, candidates will clearly express themselves, their goals in studying and in life, their contributions to the school and their future contributions to society,” To Thi shared.

To Thi has now spent nearly 5 months studying in the US as part of an exchange program. Living independently, away from home during the busiest time preparing her study abroad application, according to Thi, is a special and valuable experience.
“In the US, students are encouraged to study on their own and actively acquire knowledge. In the final year of high school, the curriculum is very heavy, with frequent tests and exams,” Thi said.
Although there are many challenges, according to Thi, this will be a valuable asset for her to mature, understand more about family values, social relationships and prepare to go to university and pursue her dream of becoming a lawyer.
