Neymar, Casemiro return to Brazil team

The veteran duo were named in Brazil's preliminary squad list under new coach Carlo Ancelotti.

This is considered a bold and anticipated decision as Brazil prepares for the remaining important matches in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in South America.

Neymar is the most notable name on the preliminary list. More than a year since his last appearance for the national team, Neymar has struggled with a series of serious injuries. The former PSG star last played for the national team in October 2023, against Uruguay.

Besides Neymar, Casemiro also returned to the national team. Ancelotti has a close relationship with Casemiro as they worked together at Real Madrid. His experience and current form at Manchester United help Casemiro be highly appreciated.

As Brazil look for solutions to improve their form, the return of Neymar and Casemiro is expected to bring new strength to the team.

Ancelotti's preliminary list also includes six players from Flamengo, including Danilo, Wesley, Leo Ortiz, Alex Sandro, Gerson and Pedro. This shows Ancelotti's confidence in the ability of players playing in the domestic league.
