Russia begins tactical nuclear drills on President Putin's orders

According to Tass News Agency (Russia) on May 21, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that it had begun the first phase of military exercises, including practicing the preparation and use of tactical nuclear weapons, under the order of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Photo: Reuters.

"The first stage of the exercise will include operations involving Iskander and Kinzhal missiles. During the exercise, Russian Air Force aircraft will carry out patrol missions equipped with Kinzhal missiles, while ground forces will practice retrieving specialized ammunition for the Iskander complex. The exercise is organized on the orders of President Putin, under the direction of the General Staff," the Russian Defense Ministry said.
