According to RT on July 10, two rounds of direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine took place in May and June this year in Istanbul (Turkey), but the next round of negotiations has not yet been scheduled.
At a regular press conference, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov mentioned the stalled diplomatic efforts.
"We should wait for a signal from the Kiev authorities to know whether they want to hold a third round of direct negotiations. We have repeatedly said that Russia wants to achieve its goals through peaceful political-diplomatic means," Peskov said.

"As long as this outcome is not possible, special military operations will continue and the reality on the ground is changing every day," he added.
Mr. Peskov's statement was made in the context that the US is said to have resumed supplying weapons to Ukraine after a short pause.
On July 10, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the sidelines of the ASEAN forum in Malaysia. The two diplomats had a nearly hour-long conversation, discussing “new and different” ideas to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the conversation as "frank" and "important", affirming that the US will continue to negotiate with both Russia and Ukraine in an effort to move closer to peace.

Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Ministry described it as a "substantive and frank exchange of views" on resolving the conflict in Ukraine. The two sides also worked to restore bilateral economic ties, while noting the importance of normalizing the activities of diplomatic missions and restoring direct flights between Russia and the United States.
