On April 13, the military website Avia Pro posted a video recording the scene of the Russian army blowing up a Ukrainian weapons depot in Kherson on the southern front. According to experts, based on the intensity of the explosion, Russia used bombs dropped from above.
It is not clear what type of bomb Russia used because Russia has used both glide bombs and vacuum bombs in the past in the Ukraine battlefield.
The video shows the explosion was so powerful that a large dome of fire formed at the scene, creating a mushroom-shaped cloud several hundred meters high.
Russia bombs large Ukrainian weapons depot, creating shockwaves
The weapons depot is located on the right bank of the Dnieper River, in what appears to be the Berislav area. This is an area controlled by Ukraine and where ammunition and military equipment are located. Ukraine often fires weapons into the left bank to attack Russian-controlled targets.
The explosion created shock waves from the Russian bomb, as well as the large amount of ammunition and explosives contained in the facility, affecting an area with a radius of about 200m.
The destruction of Ukraine’s weapons stockpile comes as Kiev gears up for a major counter-offensive aimed at proving to NATO that the war is not deadlocked. Many Western nations have exhausted their weapons aid stocks after more than a year of fierce military campaigns. Ukraine is under pressure to make gains on the battlefield to boost NATO’s confidence in the future.
