See century-old antiques salvaged from Saigon River

About 100 artifacts, images and documents are introduced in the exhibition "The Urban Development Process of Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City".

The urban development process of Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City is the theme of the ongoing thematic exhibition at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum.

This thematic exhibition introduces about 100 artifacts, images, and documents according to the following themes: Rivers and canals of Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City from the past to the present; Rivers and canals in the lives of Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City residents.

The highlight of this exhibition is a dugout canoe dating back to the 13th century. This boat was found by Mr. Dang Van Ly at the bottom of the Saigon River at a depth of 12m, in the area of ​​Binh Loi Bridge (Binh Loi Trung Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) in May 2001.

The dugout canoe attracts the attention of visitors.

Many antiques, mainly vases, jars, cups, plates, etc. made of ceramic, were salvaged from the Saigon River and dated from the 13th century, late 19th century, and early 20th century.

The exhibition also introduces maps showing the history of Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City development from 1760 to 1945; a map showing the location of the entire Te Canal connecting from Saigon River to Tau Hu Canal in 1906; a collection of Indochina postcards...

In one corner of the exhibition space are models of boats built by Mr. Pham Van Sai - Nhon Hoa boat factory.

The exhibition " The Urban Development Process of Saigon - Ho Chi Minh City" will take place until October 15.
