In the inevitable trend of digital transformation in agricultural production, AI technology has been actively deployed by Nghe An province through smart agricultural models and high-tech applications. However, the application of AI in the digital transformation process is in the initial stage of interest and application, only large enterprises and farms invest in a more systematic and complete way.
Chairing the Seminar on AI Application in Agricultural Extension suggests many positive effects from technology but also shares many difficulties and challenges.
In fact, AI applications have only been deployed in a few large agricultural models at TH True Milk Company's dairy farm. TH has applied the Afifarm system (of SAE Afikim, Israel); attaching an AfiTag chip to the leg, allowing health monitoring over time, automatically detecting estrus and reproduction, as well as detecting mastitis up to 4 days before obvious symptoms.
In Nam Dan district (old), there are also 2 large-scale pig farms applying smart environmental control systems (temperature, humidity, lighting) using sensors and AI, helping to reduce the rate of animal diseases to less than 5%.
In the crop sector alone, some cooperatives and farming households have applied AI to flexibly adjust the sowing schedule, minimizing damage caused by sudden heavy rains. Some Doi Choi farms and safe vegetable cooperatives have also applied AI for automatic watering, temperature and humidity monitoring, pest monitoring and automatic warning systems via Zalo, helping to reduce the cost of using pesticides by about 10-15%.

At the seminar "Application of AI in Agricultural Extension" held on the afternoon of August 8 in Nghe An province, experts and delegates shared a lot of knowledge, skills and practical experience in applying AI in agricultural production.
From the perspective of technology and implementation, AI application in Nghe An is facing many difficulties due to lack of data infrastructure and connection, high investment costs, limited human resources and operational skills.
Therefore, for AI technology to truly play its role in practice, it requires the synchronous participation of the government, businesses, scientists and farmers. Investing in digital infrastructure, training human resources, building agricultural databases, as well as appropriate support policies are key factors that need to be focused on.
And not only Nghe An province, boldly investing in AI applications in agriculture not only helps local agriculture catch up with the development trend of the times, but also contributes to creating a green, clean, smart agriculture, aiming at the goal of sustainable rural economic development and improving the quality of life for people.
Applying AI technology to contribute to increasing productivity and quality of agricultural products; reducing costs and improving production efficiency; monitoring health and managing diseases; forecasting weather and responding to climate change; enhancing traceability and increasing the value of agricultural products; managing and developing smart farms... is a long process, in terms of operation, investment and implementation.
