The Agriculture and Environment sector contributes to the sustainable development of the country.

Assessing the 80 years of formation and development of the industry, Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang affirmed that the past 80 years of journey is a great source of pride, creating a solid foundation for the Agriculture and Environment industry to enter a new stage of development. Although it will continue to face many difficulties and challenges, according to the Minister, with high determination and especially solidarity and unity within the industry from top to bottom, the industry has determined to focus on completing 6 general goals.

Accordingly, the Ministry aims to build a modern, productive, high-quality, efficient, sustainable, and competitive agricultural sector that is among the top in Southeast Asia and in the top 15 in the world by 2030.

Along with that, proactively and effectively adapt to climate change, prevent natural disasters, reduce emissions, manage, exploit, use resources economically and effectively, ensure the quality of the living environment, and move towards a green economy that is friendly to the environment.

The Minister of Agriculture and Environment emphasized on enhancing the contribution of science, technology, innovation, creativity and growth of the sector with the goal of reaching a total factor productivity contribution of over 50% by 2030. At the same time, promoting international cooperation, proactively responding to non-traditional security issues, ensuring national food security and Vietnam's interests in the international arena. In particular, strongly investing in developing the agricultural and rural infrastructure system and natural disaster prevention, ensuring basic synchronization and modernity by 2030.

The head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment affirmed that the Ministry will maximize the potential and value of marine resources and space, creating a solid foundation for the development of strong marine economic sectors, effectively caring for people's livelihoods, contributing to maintaining independence and sovereignty, gradually turning Vietnam into a strong maritime nation, rich from the sea.

“I deeply believe that, promoting the 80-year tradition with the aspiration and will of self-reliance, the entire environmental agriculture sector will constantly innovate and create, continue its pioneering mission, and contribute to the sustainable development of the country for a green, strong and happy Vietnam,” Minister Tran Duc Thang shared.

According to the plan of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the series of events to celebrate the 80th anniversary will take place from July to December 2025, with many diverse activities spreading widely across the country. In particular, the focus will be the 80th Anniversary Ceremony of the Agriculture and Environment sector and the 1st Patriotic Emulation Congress, held on the morning of November 12, 2025 at the National Convention Center, Hanoi, with the participation of more than 1,200 delegates, including leaders of the Party, State, Government, National Assembly, former leaders of the Ministry, international guests and advanced models in the whole sector.

In addition, the Exhibition of 80 years of achievements of the Agriculture and Environment sector was held to introduce the outstanding marks of the sector through the periods, scientific and technological achievements, typical production models, with the participation of many large enterprises and industry associations, demonstrating the spirit of innovation, integration and green development of the Agriculture and Environment sector of Vietnam.

In addition, the series of activities also has many meaningful programs such as: Gala Dinner program to welcome (evening of November 11, 2025) at the Headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (No. 10 Ton That Thuyet); "Returning to the Source" program at the Relic Site of the Ministry of Agriculture - Tuyen Quang province; and the Ceremony of attaching the welcome signboard at Phu Sa Pumping Station (Hanoi) and Tho Quang Fishing Port (Da Nang).

Along with socio-political activities, the Ministry has directed to promote propaganda and communication work on press, television and digital platforms, aiming to spread the traditional values, achievements and development orientation of the industry in the new period.

Outstanding media products include: Documentary film "80 years of Vietnam's Agriculture and Environment" produced by Vietnam Television VTV; Yearbook and Exhibition Space of photos, books and newspapers commemorating the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's Agriculture and Environment sector and special issue published by Agriculture and Environment Newspaper and Agriculture and Environment Magazine; 6th Agricultural Economics and Rural Development Journalism Award in 2025, with the theme "Vietnam's Agriculture and Environment Entering a New Era".

With the motto of Tradition - Innovation - Development - Sustainability, the series of activities celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Agriculture and Environment sector is not only an occasion for gratitude and honor, but also a milestone opening a new stage of development, towards an ecological agriculture, civilized farmers, modern countryside, associated with sustainable protection of resources and environment.

On the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the Agriculture and Environment Sector (1945-2025) and the 1st Patriotic Emulation Congress, the sector was honored to be awarded the First Class Labor Medal; at the same time, 30 cooperatives, 24 typical farmers and farm owners, 57 collectives and 151 typical advanced individuals in the period 2020-2025 were honored.
