This morning, September 6, the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee held a meeting to direct the implementation of urgent measures to ensure the safety of people and property in the city in the face of the risk of being greatly affected by storm No. 3 (Yagi), which has the strength of a "super storm".

The meeting was chaired by Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Thi Tuyen; Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh, Head of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Hanoi; and members of the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee.

At the meeting, representatives of some departments and functional agencies of Hanoi City said that in order to respond to emergency situations caused by the impact of storm No. 3, the city's functional units have prepared response plans, arranged people and vehicles, such as: readying thousands of people and hundreds of vehicles to perform the task of drainage and flood prevention; ensuring enough essential goods, not increasing prices; maintaining a safe electricity system; lakes in the area have also been lowered to the necessary low level.

In particular, to ensure the health and safety of students, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has directed that schools in the city not organize classes, including extra classes, on Saturdays (September 7). Hanoi City Police have also arranged forces to protect security and order in the city, especially at key locations. The Capital Command has directed forces and coordinated with units of the Ministry of National Defense in the area to be ready to support localities.

Concluding the conference, the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee requested the Party Committee, the government and the entire political system from the city down to the grassroots level to participate in preventing and fighting storm No. 3 in the spirit of not being subjective, implementing methodically, seriously and closely with the highest goal of not causing human casualties and minimizing damage to state and people's property.

The Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee requested leaders of Party committees and authorities at all levels, heads of agencies and units to uphold their sense of responsibility, focus on directing the implementation of plans to prevent and combat storm No. 3 proactively, synchronously and comprehensively with the motto "4 on-site". The focus is on ensuring the safety of people's lives and protecting property; paying special attention to protecting dikes, dams, vulnerable areas, and areas with high risks of insecurity in the area. At the same time, step up propaganda to raise people's awareness to proactively coordinate in flood and storm prevention and combat; ensure that there is no negligence or subjectivity but at the same time no panic or fear.
