Hanoi: Operating nearly 100 pumping stations to prevent flooding

As of 9:00 a.m. on October 7, 2025, Hanoi City Irrigation Companies are operating 98 stations with 368 drainage pumps, with a total pumping capacity of 1,447,550 m3/h. Yen Nghia drainage pumping station has been operating 8 units regularly since 3:00 a.m. this morning, October 7, and at times operates 9 units with a total capacity of 108/120 m3/s.

After checking the actual situation, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dai, Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment, said that although there were places with very heavy rain such as Vinh Thanh 270 mm, Hai Boi 210 mm, some places over 300 mm, but due to early preparation and detailed flood prevention plans, the water in the suburban areas receded quickly, so there was time and conditions to coordinate with the inner-city drainage system to ensure the shortest flooding time. In Xuan Mai commune, the water had completely receded since yesterday.

However, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dai, Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment, emphasized that although water receded quickly in the suburbs, storms and rains still had complicated developments. Local authorities and people needed to be more vigilant, not be subjective, and proactively respond to any unexpected situations.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dai suggested that localities increase patrols, prepare adequate human resources, materials, and means, promptly handle incidents and natural disasters from the first hour; continue to mobilize people and machinery to urgently harvest rice according to the motto "green house is better than ripe field"; prioritize harvesting low-lying areas at risk of deep flooding...

According to the report of Hanoi Drainage One Member Limited Liability Company, from 0:10 to 6:30 this morning, October 7, in Hanoi there was widespread rain, high intensity, common rainfall of 90 - 150 mm, some places over 200 mm, locally high in Vinh Thanh 269.8 mm, O Cho Dua 223.9 mm, Hai Boi 204.9 mm, Tu Liem 204.5 mm, Dai Mo 200.1 mm, Phu Luong 163 mm, Ha Dong 97.1 mm.

Currently, water levels on rivers: Water levels on Tich River (at Kim Quan, Vinh Phuc ), Bui River (at Yen Duyet) are above alarm level II; Day River (Ba Tha) is above alarm level I; Cau River (Luong Phuc), Nhue River (Dong Quan), Ca Lo River (Manh Tan), My Ha River (Hoa Lac) are below alarm level I.

In Hanoi at 6:30 a.m., flooding appeared in To Lich basin: Thuy Khue, Mac Thi Buoi, Minh Khai Street (at the foot of Vinh Tuy bridge), Bui Xuong Trach, Huynh Thuc Khang, Thanh Cong (in front of Ward People's Committee).

The Nhue River basin recorded flooding at many locations including: My Dinh - Thien Hien intersection, Le Duc Tho street; Phu Xa area (Phu Xa - Phuc Hoa intersection); Duong Dinh Nghe - Nam Trung Yen intersection; Vo Chi Cong street (in front of UDIC building); Hoang Quoc Viet and Phan Van Truong streets; alley 99 Hoa Bang street; A38 gas station area Tran Cung street; Tran Binh street; Do Duc Duc street (entrance to Mieu Dam); Nguyen Trai street (in front of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, on the side with even bus lanes); Quan Nhan street; Quang Trung street (in front of Nguyen Hue High School and the area opposite La Khe Station); Yen Nghia area (from Yen Nghia bus station to Ba La intersection); Xom street (opposite Hai Phat building); Le Loi - Tran Hung Dao intersection; Quyet Thang street; To Hieu street; National Highway 6; TT18 area, Phu La ward... Long Bien basin at Ngoc Lam street, Duc Giang, Dam Quang Trung street, Co Linh, under the train underpass of Thien Duc street.
