This is a political and social activity of special significance, demonstrating the tradition of “When drinking water, remember its source” and “Repaying gratitude” of the nation, to show gratitude to those who have sacrificed and contributed to the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. The event gathered 250 outstanding delegates, representing millions of meritorious people across the country.

Nghe An province is honored to have 5 outstanding representatives attending this meeting. This is a recognition of the great contributions of the heroic Soviet homeland in the resistance wars and the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

- Hero of the People's Armed Forces Hoang Van Nam (born in 1954, residing in Residential Group No. 4, Nghi Loc Commune) was one of the loyal and brave soldiers in the resistance war against the US to save the country. As a missile control officer, he and his teammates directly shot down 29 enemy aircraft - an exceptionally outstanding achievement, contributing to the victory in the skies of the North.
- Mrs. Tran Thi Nam (born in 1947, residing in Block 19, Truong Vinh Ward) is the wife of martyr Pham Van Tu, who died on March 12, 1975. Raising two grown children alone, Mrs. Nam is not only an exemplary cadre at Nghe An Construction Company No. 6, but also an active party member in social work after retirement. She used to hold the role of Head of the Front Work Committee in Block 9, Ben Thuy Ward (old) and is a typical nucleus in many local movements.
- Mr. Nguyen Van Dong (born in 1956, residing in Mau 2 hamlet, Kim Lien commune) is a 4/4 class disabled soldier, 1/3 sick soldier, son of a martyr. He fought in the southwestern border battlefield and was commended for his bravery. Returning to civilian life, he continued to promote the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldier, actively participated in local activities and was an outstanding member of the Kim Lien Commune Veterans Association.
- Mr. Nguyen Viet Que (born in 1953, residing in Lien Co block, Thanh Vinh ward) is a 4/4 disabled veteran, who fought in the Quang Tri front - a place known as the "bomb bag" during the resistance war. After leaving the army, he actively participated in building his hometown, always being exemplary in life and work.
- Mr. Chu Cap (born in 1942, residing in Chu Trac hamlet, Yen Thanh commune) is a 3/4-class disabled veteran, a resistance activist infected with toxic chemicals, and was imprisoned by the enemy in Con Dao. After the war, he continued to work in the education sector, becoming a shining example of morality, responsibility and patriotism, a role model in emulation movements, raising his children to adulthood, useful to society.

The national meeting of meritorious people and historical witnesses is an opportunity for the Party, the State and the whole society to express their deep gratitude to those who have devoted and sacrificed for the revolutionary cause. At the same time, this is also an opportunity to listen to the thoughts and aspirations of meritorious people, thereby continuing to improve and effectively implement preferential policies, taking better care of their material and spiritual lives.
