The Vietnamese-Japanese version of MV Blue Light Yokohama was released on the evening of November 14 and has been receiving a lot of love from Vietnamese-Japanese audiences in recent days.
This is a special music and cultural diplomacy project originating from the affection of the Governor of Kanagawa province for Vietnam, with the coordination of Kanagawa province, the Embassy of Vietnam in Japan, the Association of Traditional Vietnamese Arts and Culture in Japan (BETORAKU) and the Hanoi University of Science and Technology Alumni Association in Japan (BKS).
Governor of Kanagawa Prefecture sing Japanese hit songs in Vietnamese
Blue Light Yokohama is one of the classic songs associated with the memories of many generations of Japanese people, especially Yokohama people.
This was the biggest hit of artist Ishida's career, one of the best-selling singles of the 1960s in Japan, contributing to shaping the "Yokohama song" genre - a romantic music genre evoking the image of Yokohama port at night.
In the MV Blue Light Yokohama , Mr. Kuroiwa Yuji appears as a singer singing a Japanese hit song in Vietnamese to promote his homeland's J-pop music.
According to Kanaloco , the filming location of the MV was in Minato Yokohama City, including the rooftop of the prefectural office building, Nihon Avenue, and Yokohama's Minato Mirai 21 (MM21) area.
The Vietnam Traditional Arts and Culture Association in Japan informed that the MV represents the Vietnam-Japan friendship, honoring the cooperative relationship between Kanagawa-Yokohama province and Vietnam. Thereby promoting the image of Kanagawa-Yokohama with typical symbols such as Minato Mirai, city hall, Yamashita park, Vietnam festival in Yokohama... to Vietnamese people.
Above all, conveying a humane message of connection, when the Governor of Kanagawa sang in Vietnamese for the first time through a music video, an image full of warm, sincere and close emotions.

Kanagawa Prefecture has been strengthening its relationship with Vietnam since 2015, through hosting Vietnam Festa, an exchange event between the prefecture and Vietnam.
Governor Kuroiwa Yuji plays an important role in promoting that good friendship. He also just finished his official visit to Vietnam yesterday (November 17).
At the Kanagawa Festival held at Thong Nhat Park, Hanoi recently, the image of Governor Kuroiwa Yuji joining a random dance circle with young Vietnamese people received much sympathy from the Vietnamese people.

Commenting under the MV Blue Light Yokohama , many Vietnamese audiences praised the meaningful MV and Mr. Kuroiwa Yuji's "sweet" and "cute" Vietnamese singing.
"Seeing the connection between Vietnam and Japan filled the screen", "Who would have thought that the Governor could sing Vietnamese so sweetly. So touched and proud", "On behalf of Vietnamese people living in Japan, I thank the Governor for loving the Vietnamese language, loving Vietnam and working together on this meaningful project"... are some of the comments.
Japanese account @Narikin-kc9mi commented: "The song combines Japanese enka (ballad) music and Vietnamese pop, with a mysterious flavor that I really like. It makes me feel like I'm eating pho at a ramen shop in the Showa era."
Some audiences were impressed with the very artistic and unique style of "singer" Kuroiwa Yuji. "Not rushed but lively, making me keep humming forever," this person shared.
