Research on the project of free trade zone associated with Cai Mep Ha seaport

Mr. Pham Viet Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council chaired the meeting.

On May 14, Mr. Pham Viet Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council chaired a meeting of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee to give opinions on the project "Research on a free trade zone associated with a seaport in the Cai Mep Ha area".

This is one of the key projects implemented to concretize Resolution No. 24-NQ/TW of the Politburo on socio-economic development of the Southeast region to 2030, with a vision to 2045.

The free trade zone (FTZ) associated with the seaport in Cai Mep Ha area has a scale of about 3,749 hectares, expected to be located in Phuoc Hoa ward and Tan Hoa ward, Phu My city. Cai Mep Ha FTZ is oriented to develop in 3 main functional areas: Transport hub area (including seaport, inland waterway port and railway station); logistics, warehouse and industrial area; commercial service urban area and high-tech industry.

The research and construction of Cai Mep Ha FTZ is a strategic direction to effectively exploit the potential of deep-water seaports, promote the development of marine economy and logistics, and gradually turn Ba Ria-Vung Tau into a strong marine economic center of the region and the whole country.

The Provincial Party Standing Committee requested the project development team to continue reviewing and perfecting the content, clarifying the management model, specific institutions and investment attraction mechanisms in line with the orientation of innovation, green development and international integration.

* At the meeting, the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee heard a report on the preparations for the 2025 investment promotion conference, scheduled to take place on May 30 at the Grand Ho Tram Hotel (Xuyen Moc) with the theme "Choosing Ba Ria-Vung Tau". At this conference, the Provincial People's Committee will grant investment certificates to 39 enterprises and investors with capital of VND 200 billion or more, and sign strategic cooperation agreements with 5 large enterprises.

Speaking at the meeting, Provincial Party Secretary Pham Viet Thanh requested departments, branches and localities to focus all their efforts to successfully organize the conference, ensuring practical effectiveness, creating highlights in attracting investment and affirming the position and potential of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

* Also in the meeting of the Provincial Party Standing Committee on the morning of May 14, Mr. Nguyen Cong Vinh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, reported on a number of contents related to the 3/2 urban area project in Ward 10 and Ward 11, Vung Tau City.

According to the report, the Provincial People's Committee has coordinated and supportedSun Group, the project investor, to complete the necessary procedures and processes to organize the groundbreaking ceremony of the technical infrastructure project on May 16.
