Unlike the SEA V.League stage 1 final less than a week ago, the Vietnamese women's team entered the match in confusion, making many mistakes in both passing and defending the back line.

With their class, it was not difficult for Thailand to win not only the first game but also the second game with scores of 25-17 and 26-24 respectively.

Thailand takes 2-0 lead in the "final" of stage 2

With nothing left to lose, especially after a really unimpressive start, the host Vietnam began to make adjustments in both personnel and tactics for a seemingly hopeless comeback against the Thais. Difficulties piled up ahead and a terrible challenge was also posed from here for the "golden star warriors".

Vietnam team adjusts tactics and scores points

Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's adjustment when he brought in Vi Thi Nhu Quynh to replace Nguyen Thi Uyen really worked. After the first few points were quite tight, the home team gradually broke away thanks to the excellent scoring ability of Bich Tuyen, Bich Thuy, Vi Quynh while Thanh Thuy showed good defense ability. The 25-17 victory in the third set rekindled hope for the Vietnamese team.

The fourth set was not much different as the home team completely took control from the 10-10 score. On a day when Thanh Thuy was ineffective in attacking, Vi Quynh showed the necessary confidence, sharing the scoring responsibility with Bich Tuyen.

The Vietnamese team rose strongly with the excellence of the duo Bich Tuyen - Vi Quynh, always leading the score with Thailand and ending the match at 25-22.

Historic victory of Vietnamese women's volleyball

The match that decided the championship of the second stage of SEA V.League 2025 had to go into the fifth game and for the first time in more than 30 years, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team defeated their arch-rival Thailand. The 3-2 victory also helped the Vietnamese team break the Thai dominance in the ASEAN Grand Prix/SEA V.League playground.

Congratulations to the Vietnamese women's volleyball team! Hopefully, from this historic breakthrough, the Vietnamese team will have more confidence to think about conquering the Queen title at the SEA Games arena, affirming its true strength in the Southeast Asian region.
