Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation shared that to achieve the above results, the unit has implemented many solutions to carry out electricity saving efforts.
Firstly, there is Prime Minister 's Directive 20 on strengthening electricity saving during the 2023-2025 period and Decision No. 6012 of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on the plan for implementing electricity saving in Ho Chi Minh City during the 2023-2025 period and subsequent years.
Simultaneously, the corporation also collaborates with departments and agencies to raise awareness and encourage the participation of organizations, businesses, and households in using electricity efficiently and effectively.
The corporation has also submitted proposals to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and the Department of Industry and Trade regarding urgent solutions to enhance electricity saving during the peak dry season of 2024.
Specifically, the corporation has signed commitments to implement electricity saving measures with 1,809 large customers consuming 1 million kWh/year or more, and with 49,239 customers consuming less than 1 million kWh/year. Agreements to reduce load during power system disruptions have been finalized with 1,323 large industrial customers.
The corporation also coordinated with the People's Committees of districts/wards and Thu Duc City to organize electricity saving inspections. The cumulative results achieved in the first six months of the year reached 101% of the plan.
Simultaneously, the corporation has also intensified its communication efforts. Notable among these are programs such as: "Green Family"; collaboration with media outlets to organize a seminar on "Load Adjustment: Current Situation and Solutions to Reduce the Risk of Grid Overload"; collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City Television to organize the game show "Students Join Hands to Use Electricity Safely and Economically"; and collaboration with Thanh Nien newspaper to launch the writing contest "Saving Electricity as a Habit" - 2nd edition, 2024.
Mr. Bui Trung Kien, Deputy General Director of Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation, believes that changes in usage habits and the joint efforts of people, businesses, and organizations have contributed to the resounding success of the electricity saving campaign.
Mr. Kien assessed that in recent years, thanks to extensive propaganda programs on mass media, along with the decisive involvement of agencies, departments, and socio -political organizations, people's awareness of electricity saving has clearly improved.
"The Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation always calls on customers to cooperate with the power industry in applying electricity saving measures to make them a habit, consistently. We are not doing this as a campaign or a seasonal effort," Mr. Kien emphasized.

During the period of intense heat, many residents and companies in Ho Chi Minh City still used electricity efficiently, thus preventing a sudden surge in electricity bills.
Specifically for air conditioners, the most energy-consuming appliance, people have been adjusting the temperature to 26 degrees Celsius or higher; turning them on 60 minutes later and turning them off 60 minutes earlier than the start and end times of the workday...
