Recently, a man named Todd Bockness in the US shared about the changes in his body after he adopted a diet of only meat and eggs.

The man ate only meat and eggs.

Bockness shared that he once weighed more than 317kg, could not walk on his own, and had impaired vision. He even had to be hooked up to an oxygen tube to maintain his breathing.

Bockness has tried many diets, from keto to intermittent fasting, but none of them helped him lose weight long-term.

Bockness then tried a diet of just eggs and bacon, beef, lamb, and some seasonings like butter, salt, and vinegar in 2021.

Surprisingly, after six months of following this diet, Bockness "lost nearly 200 pounds". Bockness also said that "his health problems disappeared", "his heart rate dropped from 107 to 68 beats per minute" and "his previously severely swollen calves have now recovered".

Bockness added that the doctors he visited expressed concerns about the health risks he could face by eating only animal protein.

“My doctor disagreed. He said my diet was very concerning,” Bockness said.

Despite being advised by his doctor, Bockness believes that "the meat and egg diet has contributed to his weight loss and improved insulin levels." Therefore, from 2021 to now, Bockness has continued to apply this diet, he even posted articles on Instagram and videos on his YouTube channel to share more about his meat and egg diet.

The risks of eating only meat and eggs

According to doctors, a diet that is all protein from meat and eggs and eliminates all carbohydrate-containing foods such as grains can cause the body to lack important nutrients from plant-based foods including fiber, vitamin C, magnesium and potassium.

In addition, a diet high in meat will cause people to take in a lot of saturated fat, increasing the “bad” HDL cholesterol. Excess cholesterol can cause fats to deposit in the arteries, causing blood vessel blockage and increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Studies also show that eating too much red meat and processed meat can increase the risk of cancer, especially colorectal cancer.

Therefore, people should consider choosing a suitable diet and should consult a nutritionist or doctor before eliminating any food from the diet to ensure health safety.

NHS guidelines state that a balanced diet should include at least five portions of fruit and vegetables a day to provide enough fibre. In addition, people should also get protein from animal and plant sources.
