Regularly passing by the September 23 Park (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), Mr. Nguyen The Cam (79 years old, residing in Ben Thanh Ward, District 1) said he was very happy that a large area here had its fence removed. Because before that, this area was fenced off to serve the construction of Ben Thanh station.
Workers cut the fence
Mr. Cam said that fencing off this area greatly affects the business and trading activities of the surrounding people, and people also have to find other places to exercise and have fun.
"The people are happy to remove any part of the barriers. After removing the barriers, the streets will be clear, the landscape will improve, and people will be able to trade, exercise , and have fun again as before. Dismantling them during the April 30 holiday is even more meaningful," said Mr. Cam.
The barriers were removed.
On the morning of April 25, workers here removed many meters of fence. The ground was restored with many flower beds and trees.
The Urban Railway Management Board said that the area of the site that the unit has re-established, removed barriers and handed over to the Ho Chi Minh City Technical Infrastructure Management Center (under the Department of Construction) has an area of 8,000 m2. This is part of the activities to celebrate the 48th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30).
September 23 Park area after being re-developed
According to Mr. Nguyen Trung Hieu, Deputy Director of Project Management Board 1, the September 23 Park area was fenced off at the end of 2016 to build Ben Thanh Station. Up to now, 50% of the previously fenced area has been dismantled.
The central area of Ho Chi Minh City is more airy
"We have organized a crosswalk across the existing construction site from 6am to 6pm every day. This helps people restore their daily exercise and living activities," Mr. Hieu informed.
A large area was re-established.
Regarding metro line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien), the skylight project has been installed, completing the entire exterior architecture. This is a special architectural highlight, symbolizing Ben Thanh station and this metro line.
Flowers and trees have been replanted.
Accordingly, the skylight is designed with a stylized lotus image with two main materials: insulating glass and honeycomb aluminum panels. The main function of the project is to provide light and ventilation for the area below the underground station.
The skylight project has symbolic meaning for Ben Thanh station and metro line 1 (Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien)
The roof of the skylight is designed with a stylized lotus image.
With a glass wall design surrounding the open space, the project allows Metro passengers to directly see Ben Thanh market, or visitors above can watch the station activities below. This can also be a meeting place for people and tourists to have fun and check-in when coming to Ho Chi Minh City.
