In addition to the plan to organize football at the 33rd SEA Games, the AFF Competition Committee also approved the schedule for important football tournaments in the region, including: the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship hosted by Vietnam from August 6 to 19; the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship in Indonesia from July 15 to 29; the 2026 Southeast Asian Championship scheduled to be held from July 25 to August 26, 2026, and the 2025-2026 Southeast Asian Club Championship from August 2025 to May 2026.
Towards the above mentioned key tournaments, VFF has proactively built a plan to prepare very early for the U22 team and the national women's team. Since 2024, the Vietnam U22 team has been synchronously trained with the national team during the FIFA Days, participating in two international friendly tournaments U22 CFA Team China 2024 and 2025 with many quality opponents.
In addition, potential young players are also given the opportunity to compete, in which some excellent players have had the opportunity to test themselves at the national team level and make their mark at the ASEAN Cup 2024.
As for the National Women's Team, Coach Mai Duc Chung and his team recently had an international friendly match with the Werder Bremen Women's Club (Germany) at Hang Day Stadium on May 16. The team is maintaining training at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center ( Hanoi ) and will go to Japan for training in early June 2025, before participating in the 2026 Asian Women's Qualifiers, while continuing to prepare for the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Championship and the 33rd SEA Games.
