From May 27 to May 30, 2025, more than 100 outstanding artists of Ho Chi Minh City will join a special journey to the source in 2025 with the theme "Following the footsteps of the General Offensive and Uprising in the Spring of 1975".

The program was organized by the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the City Party Committee to practically celebrate major holidays and important historical events of the city and the country: the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2025).

"Following the footsteps of Ho Chi Minh campaign" - A new epic from the artist's heart

From the sunny days of May, more than 100 outstanding artists of Ho Chi Minh City will set out together on a special journey: "Following the Footprints of the General Offensive and Uprising in the Spring of 1975". This year, the journey is more inspired than ever by an emotional musical composition - the song "Following the Footprints of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign" by musician Mai Tram.

Composed specifically for the journey in 2025, the song is considered a historical memorial anthem and an invisible thread connecting the hearts of today's artists with the footsteps of soldiers in the past.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diem - Deputy Head of the Department of Science, Culture and Arts, Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee - commented: "In each melody and lyric, musician Mai Tram has breathed into it the spirit of the great spring victory, of the steadfast belief in the Party, in Uncle Ho, in the nation. Not just a theme song, this work promises to become a symbol accompanying the 4-day journey from Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak to Binh Phuoc , where the song "following the footsteps of the campaign" will resound, the atmosphere of the journey will be full of emotions".

Musician Mai Tram has just won the second prize (no first prize) in the songwriting campaign "The Country is Full of Joy" organized by the Lao Dong Newspaper. She shared that in the midst of the fiery land, in front of historical relics such as Kon Tum Prison, Buon Ma Thuot Prison or Ta Thiet base, the melody of the song will be a tribute to the past, like a call from the present towards the future. More than just a trip, the journey back to the source in 2025 is also an affirmation of the role of the Ho Chi Minh City artists in continuing the revolutionary flame with the power of art.

"The song not only resonates in the Central Highlands mountains and forests, not only is it sung during the flag-raising ceremony at Bo Y Border Gate or the incense offering ceremony at Gia Lai Martyrs' Cemetery - but it will continue to resonate in the hearts of every artist after the journey. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, I composed this song as a special creative mark - not only to commemorate, but also to spread: to spread love for the homeland, national spirit, and the desire to contribute with my own pen, voice, and instrument" - musician Mai Tram confided.

When the Organizing Committee shared the MV promoting the song with printed lyrics and melody for the whole group to learn to sing, the artists commented that the song was written with the heart of a Ho Chi Minh City artist with a deep love for the country. "And we, the artists who sing that song, are the ones who continue to write the spring epic with practical actions: with creativity, with dedication, with endless gratitude for the history of the nation" - Meritorious Artist Tuyet Thu shared.

The journey to the source "Following the footsteps of the General Offensive and Uprising in the Spring of 1975" had the participation of about 115 delegates: Veteran artists who especially participated in the General Offensive and Uprising in the Spring of 1975; outstanding artists of the city's Literature and Arts Associations, of art units under the city's Department of Culture and Sports; artists who have made many contributions to promoting and preserving national art and traditional culture, actively participating in the city's political and social programs, serving compatriots and soldiers in remote areas, border areas, islands, etc.

The journey back to the source is expected to take place in 4 days, from May 27 to May 30, 2025, in Kon Tum province, Gia Lai province, Dak Lak province, and Binh Phuoc province.

According to the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, the journey to the source aims to educate the political and ideological forces, and widely propagate among artists and writers about the significance, stature, and heroic historical values of the nation; affirm the correct and wise leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, President Ho Chi Minh and the spirit of great national unity as the decisive factor for the victory of the spring victory in 1975.

Thereby, motivating and encouraging the city's artists to continue to contribute to the development of the city's literature and art; actively composing and performing literary and artistic works to practically celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and national reunification, on topics praising the leadership of the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, the tradition of patriotism and revolution; praising the development of the city and the country; building the image of typical examples in studying and following Uncle Ho, the image of new people in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

At the same time, help young artists better understand the value of peace, independence, freedom and arouse patriotism, sense of responsibility, and will to preserve the sovereignty of the homeland; gather and create a source of core political artists to propagate and implement the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws.
