On the morning of May 23, in Long Dat district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, the Command of Coast Guard Region 3 coordinated with the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province and local authorities to organize a conference to disseminate laws on preventing and combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, combined with social security activities.

This is part of a series of mass mobilization programs called " Coast Guard accompanies fishermen " , which has been implemented throughout the past time to raise legal awareness and support fishermen to stay at sea with peace of mind.

At the conference, representatives of the Coast Guard Region 3 Command informed many ship owners, captains and fishermen in the area about the security situation of Vietnam's seas and islands. At the same time, reporters disseminated legal regulations related to IUU, analyzed the levels of handling violations and highlighted specific violations in the locality that have been detected and handled by the authorities in recent times.

Within the framework of the program, ship owners, vehicle owners and captains were instructed to sign a commitment not to violate IUU with many practical contents such as: Always carry full fishing vessel documents and crew certificates when going to sea; strictly record and submit reports, fishing logs, and seafood purchasing logs; maintain 24/7 operation of voyage monitoring equipment and absolutely do not arbitrarily disassemble or move equipment; do not take fishing vessels to foreign waters for illegal fishing; do not use chemicals, explosives, electric shocks or fishing gear that destroy the marine environment.

National flags were sent to fishermen and people in Long Dat district.

On this occasion, the Command of Coast Guard Region 3 presented 40 gifts including national flags, life jackets, flashlights, necessities and cash to families of policy beneficiaries and fishermen in difficult circumstances. Accompanying the program, representatives of the Lao Dong Newspaper also presented national flags to fishermen in Long Dat district, contributing to encouraging the spirit of fishermen to firmly stick to the sea and protect national sovereignty .

Previously, at the Hung Thai Fisheries Logistics Service Enterprise Fishing Port (Long Dat District), authorities also boarded fishing boats to present national flags and distribute IUU propaganda leaflets to ship owners, captains and crew members of fishing boats anchored at the port.
