Author Tran Kim Khoi touches the gateway to Vietnamese animated film scripts
Vietnam Film and Television Joint Stock Company has just been appraised and selected by the Department of Performing Arts and the Central Council for the animated film script "Illusion". This is a work by authors Tran Kim Khoi - Bui Hoai Thu, directed by Hong Linh.
The film marks a new turning point in the direction of Vietnamese animation. It combines philosophy of life, allegorical imagery and visual poetry.
Tran Kim Khoi - Metaphor of those chasing illusions
In the ancient town at night, under the mossy roofs, the light from the lanterns creates shimmering, magical patches of color. Lizards and geckos are fascinated by chasing after seemingly precious "prey", which are sparkling silhouettes that they think are treasures.
They enjoy chasing, competing, even fighting to capture that "light". However, they do not realize that real insects, real food, are right in front of their eyes.

Finally, they all fell into the cold sewer. Hungry and panicked, they realized the bitter truth: everything they were fighting for was just an illusion – a light that did not exist. "Don't be delusional, don't waste time and energy chasing something that does not exist. Be awake to realize what is valuable to you."
That message, seemingly intended for animals, is actually a warning to humans in the digital age – when virtual glamour and vanity are obscuring the truth of life.
"Illusion" is a philosophical script without dialogue. Authors Tran Kim Khoi - Bui Hoai Thu choose the language of images, rhythm and light to tell the story, instead of dialogue. The writing style is concise, honing every detail, opening up the imagination of the audience, making them think rather than describe.
According to the expert panel, the script structure is tight, the dramatic plot is gradually pushed to a climax by many layers of subtle metaphors.

Tran Kim Khoi, from Quang Nam to the creative city
Screenwriter Tran Kim Khoi was born in Go Noi ( Quang Nam ), the land of "Quang land where it has soaked even before rain". This is also the hometown of Hero Tran Thi Ly - "Vietnamese Girl", an image he always respects.
From his childhood memories, he had heard stories about brave soldiers, about the love of the Fatherland and the loyalty of soldiers. That became the "inner resource" for him to pick up the pen, to write about ordinary but noble people - from Truong Sa soldiers to People's Public Security soldiers.

The script "The Square Banyan Tree" by Tran Kim Khoi once created a big echo throughout the country when he wrote about the soldier protecting Truong Sa and Hoang Sa.
In 2005, Tran Kim Khoi took the entrance exam to the Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Cinema, Department of Stage Directing. After graduating, he chose to stay in Ho Chi Minh City to start a career. He believes that this "is a land rich in energy and opportunities for theatre and cinema to develop".
Interestingly, he did not pursue a career as a director but instead switched to writing scripts. The reason is probably because "studying directing helps scriptwriting become closer to staging, writing with a theatrical mindset will make it easier for directors to understand and accompany the author." He once shared this during his trips to creative camps organized by the Vietnam Stage Artists Association.

The script for the movie "Illusion" by Tran Kim Khoi and Bui Hoai Thu has been started.
After nearly two decades of writing, Tran Kim Khoi has had 12 long stage plays staged and performed. Among them, many works have resonated such as: "Square Banyan Tree" - written after a business trip to Truong Sa (2014), won the First Prize of the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, the Second Prize of the Central Propaganda Committee, the Second Prize of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association (2015); "Golden Rose" - staged by the Young World Stage, participated in the 3rd "Image of the People's Public Security Soldier" Festival, won 2 Gold Medals and 2 Silver Medals (2015);

He attended the Ministry of Public Security 's Writing Camp in 2019. The camp members traveled through Hanoi, the Central provinces, and ended in Da Lat. The journey helped him gain real-life exposure and enrich his inspiration to write about soldiers.
