Traditional foundation and imprint of Dat Cang musicians
Hai Phong - the Port city with the red color of Royal Poinciana flowers, is not only an economic center, an important trading gateway of the North but also a land rich in cultural traditions, especially music. This place has nurtured and produced many generations of talented musicians, who have contributed significantly to the map of Vietnamese music.
Hai Phong's musical tradition was created from the vibrant cultural exchange of a seaport city, which received the quintessence from many regions and the world .
This is the cradle of Cheo art, with ancient melodies preserved and developed.
In particular, Hai Phong is proud to be the hometown of great names and talented musicians such as Van Cao, Hoang Quy, Doan Chuan, To Vu, Tran Hoan, Ngo Thuy Mien... whose works have left a deep impression on the public.
One of them is musician To Vu (Hoang Phu), who is known as "teacher of teachers in music" and is the author of many classic works. Or musician Bui Duc Hanh, a distinguished artist, talented Cheo researcher, famous for the immortal romantic song "Love song of the Northwest" and the work of collecting and compiling 150 ancient Cheo melodies. Their works are not only valuable artistic assets but also an endless source of inspiration for future generations.
Building a 'Music City' with new vitality
Over time, the traditional flow continues through other generations of artists, forming a unique musical identity, both carrying the breath of the liberal ocean and the lyrical, profound qualities of the people of the Port City. Musicians from Hai Phong and contemporary artists continue to breathe new life into the city's music, bringing it further into the digital age.
Nowadays, Hai Phong not only preserves but also actively develops music in a modern, diverse and integrated direction, with current generations of musicians such as Vu Tu Lan, Vu Loan, Duy Thai, Vu Ngoc Quang, The Vinh, Tung Ngoc...
In particular, the orientation to turn Hai Phong into a "City of Music", a center of culture, sports and tourism shows the strategic vision of the City's leaders. This is a great motivation to invest in infrastructure, train human resources and organize top-notch artistic activities.
Sustainable development and integration
At the workshop "Hai Phong - City of Music, Potential, Development Opportunities", experts, researchers and artists discussed solutions to develop the city's music with the following main contents:

- Assess music potential and infrastructure, including theatre systems, arts schools, festivals, performance and training spaces.
- Building a strategy for developing the music industry and urban creativity, aiming to form "Hai Phong - Music City of Vietnam and the region".
