Ariana Grande: 'Wicked helped me rediscover my passion for music'

Ariana Grande said that the movie Wicked made her feel reborn musically after a long period of almost losing touch with creativity.

In the latest episode of the Shut Up Evan Podcast, released on October 22nd, Ariana Grande admitted that she had considered taking a break from music to focus on acting, but her role as Glinda Upland in the movie Wicked changed everything.

"I felt a real spark, a reconnection that I hadn't realized I missed so much," Ariana Grande said in a podcast hosted by Evan Ross Katz.

"Perhaps it was simply that I missed music. I really wanted to make it, and felt I couldn't stop writing. It was an inspiring moment," she shared.

She said that despite the hectic filming schedule, she still found joy in creating between the two worlds : "I told the crew that it was okay, I would finish the album before or after filming. I didn't want to lose that inspiration."

Before taking on the role of Glinda, Ariana Grande had been upfront with herself that she might take a break from music.

In the podcast episode, she shared: "I thought I had closed my own musical chapter. But living with the character of Glinda, I felt healed, reminded of why I loved this art form in the first place."

Ariana Grande said this project completely changed the way she sees music, no longer as a commercial obligation but a return to the original joy and sincerity: "I don't write because I have to release a product. I write because I'm happy."

From a film role, Wicked became a milestone that helped Ariana Grande rediscover herself, an artist who had stepped away from the spotlight to return to the most fundamental thing: her love of music.
