On the morning of May 23, the Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin held a conference to review 10 years of implementing Directive No. 43-CT/TW dated May 14, 2015 of the Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership in dealing with the consequences of toxic chemicals used by the US during the war in Vietnam (Directive No. 43). Attending the conference was Major General Do Hong Lam, Vice President of the Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin.
Currently, the whole province has 3,887 victims of Agent Orange (AO), of which 2,703 are direct victims and 1,184 are indirect victims receiving subsidies.
In recent times, the implementation of Directive No. 43 has received special attention from Party committees and authorities at all levels in the province. The work of resolving regimes and policies for resistance fighters and their children infected with toxic chemicals has been carried out promptly.
To support and help AO victims, from 2016 to the end of 2024, from the Fund for Supporting AO victims due to the war in Vietnam, the whole province has over 58 thousand AO victims receiving free medical examinations and medicine; gifts; giving birth to calves; support for production capital... with a total amount of over 56 billion VND.
From 2022 to 2024, 291 households of AO victims will receive support to build and repair houses with a total amount of over 14 billion VND.
In the coming time, the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin at all levels in the province will continue to promote the implementation of Directive No. 43; advise the Party Committees and authorities at all levels to effectively implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on resolving the regime for resistance fighters and their children infected with toxic chemicals; continue to innovate the content and methods of operation, consolidate and develop the association's organization and membership; strengthen social mobilization and mobilize resources to build the Support Fund for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin caused by the war in Vietnam at all levels...
On this occasion, 7 collectives and 12 individuals with outstanding achievements in 10 years of implementing Directive No. 43 were commended by the Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin.
