He has been involved in the career of "coaching" the Soc Trang Sepak Takraw team for more than 20 years and has always promoted the excellent role and responsibility of a coach according to the Law on Physical Education and Sports. During the training process, he always creates conditions for each athlete to fully develop their abilities and strengths in training and competition, aiming to achieve the highest results in each competition.
Talking to us, coach Tran Van Bau confided: “For this sport, blocking skills and techniques are one of the most difficult and complicated techniques. It is the main decision for athletes in winning or losing a match to be able to compete for medals, but currently the stability and effectiveness of this technique is still limited. Therefore, in training, I always focus on blocking techniques as a foundation to improve athletes' performance; at the same time, apply exercises to perfect the steps in the athletes' limited blocking techniques".
Once a player of Soc Trang Sepak Takraw, now a coach of Soc Trang Sepak Takraw youth team, Mr. Duong Hoai Tam said: “I have competed successfully in domestic and international tournaments. I achieved that result thanks to the enthusiastic guidance and training of Mr. Tran Van Bau, from basic techniques to advanced skills. He always encourages the players to try their best to compete well to bring glory to the locality.”
Currently, Soc Trang Sepak Takraw is training 40 - 45 athletes ; of which, there are 20 athletes at the master level, and 10 athletes at level I. To achieve that goal, coach Tran Van Bau shared more: "In the training method for high-performance sports in general and Sepak Takraw in particular, if you want to achieve good results in training and competition, the coach must pay attention to technical exercises on speed, exercises on judgment and reflexes when performing movements to improve stability and efficiency for athletes in training as well as competition".
