Guardia Civil said the Lamborghini driven by Jota suffered a tire blowout while overtaking another vehicle on a road through Cernadilla, Zamora province (Spain). The accident happened at around 00:30, Portugal time. The car lost control, veered off the road and burst into flames, leaving neither Jota nor his brother in time to escape.
When asked about the victims' identities, a Guardia Civil representative said: "The people in the car were Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Silva." Spanish media revealed that the car was completely burned and the identities of the two were only confirmed through the license plate.
